Antique French rare 1920’s hand painted large beautiful character boudoir doll 27”. With a surprise found stitched to her lace bloomers! The hand written note reads “Fifi was purchased in Paris in 1924. Dress only been replaced once since then - was left under cover for years” . Red satin type dress believed to have been made in the 1940’s/1950’s. Unique gold metal knights helmet to velvet bow at back of dress. Black and gold lurex braided trim with pearl detail to the satin red ribbon, with stranded pearls adorning Fifi’s neck. Decorative red headpiece compliments Fifi’s silk hair styled in soft finger waves. Body comprises of papier mache head with hand painted fabulous side eye features, beauty spot and red pout. Legs and hands made from bisque, hand painted to include red nails and red gloss high heels, while body and arms are straw. Incredible how Fifi has been preserved so well for 100 years.
